Who was Solomon in the Bible?

The wise king who built the Temple
Son of David and Bathsheba, Solomon asked God for wisdom to lead and became famous for it far and wide. He built the great Temple in Jerusalem and wrote much of Proverbs, yet his later years drifted from the God who had blessed him.
